XYZELLE - BE ALRIGHT

A narrative-based music video, 'Be Alright' captures the acquiescent stages of a relationship hurling towards its end. Intercut with snapshot moments of Xyzelle singing in a room of broken glass and antique lamps, we follow Xyzelle and her boyfriend as the reenact key moments of their relationship on screen, eventually drifting from passion to despair.

My directorial debut in the music video scene, I had a lot of fun with this concept and was proud to have the support of both Shoot Blue and Cinelab Film & Digital in getting in made.

Xyzelle is a Philippines-born singer and songwriter who emerged in the UK neo-soul scene in 2023 after appearing on the Jason Derulo-produced talent show, Project Icon. Since then, Xyzelle has seamlessly blended style and lyricism with blues and pop, capturing the new wave of soul music that is rooted in global cultures and ideas.
